Mô tả
The Muller Y -strainer has a Y-shaped design: a valve body combined with a side chamber containing a filter screen. As the fluid flows in, the screen retains impurities, debris, and solid particles (such as rust, sand, metal residues, and other solid contaminants)
After filtration, the “clean” fluid continues flowing through the pipeline, while dirt and debris are retained in the strainer chamber, helping protect equipment such as valves, pumps, pressure gauges, and other sensitive devices.
The internal filter screen can be removed for cleaning, allowing convenient maintenance without replacing the valve.
Construction:
– Valve body: Typically made of ductile iron or gray cast iron, with an external epoxy coating to resist corrosion from the environment and water
– Filter screen: Made of stainless steel 304/316, corrosion - resistant with high durability. The mesh size varies depending on whether coarse or fine filtration is required.
– Y cover: openable for filter screen cleaning
– Sealing gasket: EPDM / PTFE
– Bolts and nuts (for models with removable cover)
– Drain plug: Some models are equipped with a bottom drain plug for quick discharge of accumulated debris
Technical specifications:
– Size: DN15 – DN300
– Body material: GGG50 ductile iron, gray cast iron, stainless steel 304/316
– Working pressure: PN10 / PN16 / PN25
– Temperature: 0–120°C (depending on material)
– Connection: threaded or flanged
– Flange standards: Typically manufactured in accordance with DIN, BS, or ANSI standards, making them compatible with most water infrastructure systems in Vietnam
Features:
– Optimized flow design: Muller designs the strainer at an optimal angle to minimize pressure loss as water flows through.
– Y-shaped design helps reduce pressure loss
– Versatile mesh sizes ranging from 10 to 500 microns depending on the application, with high pressure resistance and no deformation under high flow velocity or sudden pressure changes.
– Pressure rating: PN10 – PN16 – PN25
– Easy cleaning – simply open the cover, remove the screen, and rinse it clean
– Stainless steel filter screen, corrosion-resistant, suitable for clean water and industrial water
– High durability, suitable for continuous operating systems
Benefits:
– Comprehensive protection: Prevents sand, gravel, welding slag, and other impurities from jamming the piston (in Aquadis + meters) or damaging the impeller.
– Protects auxiliary equipment by preventing debris from affecting pumps, valves, gauges, and other devices
– Simple structure, easy installation, suitable for various working environments
– Easy cleaning and maintenance: simply remove the cover to take out and clean the filter screen
– Low cost, automatic operation: no external power or control required
– Can be installed in multiple orientations: both horizontal and vertical (depending on size and design)
– Long service life: Thanks to a thick epoxy coating and a corrosion - resistant stainless steel mesh filter.
Disadvantages:
– Cannot filter ultra-fine particles: only retains debris larger than the mesh size and does not replace fine filtration systems
– Requires periodic cleaning: If not cleaned regularly, accumulated debris can reduce flow rate and increase pressure on the system.
– May cause pressure drop: fluid passing through the screen creates resistance, resulting in slight pressure loss
– Not suitable for highly viscous or sticky fluids: as they can quickly clog the mesh.
– Cost: Compared to standard brass or cast-iron Y-strainers from Asian manufactures, Muller products are more expensive due to their EU-standard quality and materials.
Applications:
– Upstream of water meters: Essential for protecting sensitive meters such as Aquadis+ or electromagnetic flow meters.
– At the inlet of pressure reducing valve (PRV) assemblies: Prevents debris from damaging the diaphragm or impairing the control mechanism.
– Upstream of pumping stations (SPS): Protects pump impellers from damage caused by stones or other hard debris in wastewater or raw water.
– Fire protection systems: Ensures clean water supply to sprinkler heads. If the nozzles become clogged with debris during a fire, the consequences can be extremely serious.
– Food and steam industries: Removes rust scale formed inside steam pipelines, protecting steam traps and steam pressure regulating valves.
