Woltex is a Woltmann-type water flow meter (horizontal turbine design) used in commercial and industrial water supply networks.

– Balanced turbine mechanism: The turbine blade design helps reduce friction on the rotating shaft, allowing the meter to remain sensitive even at low flow rates while extending its mechanical service life.
– Brass and glass register: The register is enclosed in a brass housing with thick toughened glass, fully sealed to IP68 standard. This is especially important for meter chambers that are frequently flooded or for outdoor installations.
– Removable measuring mechanism: The internal measuring unit can be removed for maintenance or replacement without having to dismantle the entire meter from the pipeline.
Benefits:

Disadvantages:
– Straight pipe requirement: To ensure accuracy, Woltex typically requires a straight pipe section upstream of the meter (usually 3xDN or 5xDN) to stabilize the flow.
– Less sensitive than position meters at very low flow rates: Compared to Aquadis+, Woltex is less effective in detecting ultra- low flow or minor leakage in residential applications.
– Size and weight: Relatively heavy, requires proper supports or pipe anchoring when installing larger sizes from DN150 and above.
Applications
– Bulk meter: Measures total flow for pump stations, water treatment plants, or industrial zones.
– District Metered Area (DMA) management: Monitors water inflow into residential zones to assess and calculate water lossers.
– Fire protection systems (PCCC): Suitable due to low pressure loss and high flow capacity.
